Deemed re-entry permit
The term “deemed re-entry permit” refers to the system whereby foreign nationals residing in Japan can leave Japan temporarily and re-enter Japan without having to go through the procedures of “re-entry permit” if the period of departure is less than one year.
However, in order to use this “deemed re-entry permit,” the immigration inspector must present a record of entry, passport, and residence card at the time of departure after stating that he will leave Japan with a re-entry permit in the prescribed column of the immigration record (ED card).
(After the new residence system is put into effect, the alien registration card serves as a residence card for a certain period of time.)
Please note that if there is no entry permit to leave the country, you will not be able to use the system of re-entry permit to leave the country.
